Testing Webhooks
How to test your integration with Webbu.
Test the destination from the dashboard
On the Buffers page, use Test on a buffer. Webbu sends a sample payload straight to the delivery URL (with your custom headers and signing) and shows the status code, duration and response. It doesn't use credits or go through buffering.
Use a temporary destination
webhook.site gives you a URL that records requests:
- Copy your unique URL from webhook.site
- Use it as the buffer's delivery URL
- Send a few webhooks to the ingest URL
- After the idle timeout, see the batch arrive on webhook.site
Send webhooks with cURL
for i in 1 2 3; do
curl -X POST https://webbu.dev/api/v1/ingest/p_shop/b_orders \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d "{\"event\": \"test.$i\", \"customerId\": \"test_user\"}"
doneAll three share the group key, so they arrive as one batch. Each accepted webhook uses credits.
Expose a local server
To deliver to a server on your machine, expose it with a tunnel such as ngrok:
ngrok http 3000Use the generated https:// URL as the delivery URL.
Try the API in the browser
The interactive API reference has a "Try it" feature:
- Open webbu.dev/api/docs
- Enter your API key in the authentication section
- Pick an endpoint, fill in the parameters and send the request
Verify the result
- Check the batch at your destination
- Look at Dashboard or Analytics for requests and deliveries
- Check the DLQ for failures
